Transition from G-Tube

Together we will help you with your child’s supplemental feedings, g-tube weaning, transition to oral feeds, and provide collaborations with other professionals to support your child as needed.

This is ideal for infants and up that are currently requiring supplemental feedings by tube (NG, OG, or g-tube), preserving oral motor skills is critical, especially if the long term goal is to wean from tubes at a later date. This is also ideal for a child who is ready to transition to oral feeds however requires guidance on how to preserve maximal oral motor function and evaluate a baby’s ability to safely wean to oral feedings. A feeding therapist should collaborate with physicians and other disciplines (like nutritionists) to help to develop a plan to wean from tubes while promoting optimal oral motor skill development.
